Public Order Offences
Public Order Offences
Have you been charged with a public order offence – an affray, riot, or rout? We have a number of articles about charges and many other general articles on this website.
Public Order offences are charges such as affray, riot or rout. They are charges where there is a disturbance in or in the sight of a public area.
Some issues in public order offences are;
- "Who did what?" (Often the hardest part of riot charges is working out who did what)
- "What level of danger was posed to victims?"
- "What was the motivation for the offence?" (We work with you to put the offending in a context that makes a Judge understand it and for them to see how it came about).
We have great experience in these matters. As an example we defended a number of the defendants in charges arising from the G20 riots.
If you have been charged with a Public Order offence and need advice or representation, please contact us immediately by calling 03 9670 5111 or book an appointment to meet with one of our lawyers.
